  • [News] A Little Reminder Of What We Face
One of those incredibly important races this November is the race to preserve our electoral protections.  Keeping a strong Secretary of State is necessary to have a chance against the "vampire like death throes" the Michigan Democrat party is sure to go through.  Click HERE if you want to know what I saying..

The Democrats cannot be trusted with such a task as securing our ballots.  particularly OAKLAND County DEMOCRATS and their choice Jocelyn Benson.  If they will lie to you BEFORE they are elected, surely one would not expect them to be straight up AFTER the fact.   The Fake tea party fiasco was a perfect example of the disrespect for voters the Democrats in Michigan truly have.  The Secretary of State as their "top of the ticket" Really drives it home.

However, money talks, and the forces in play are not merely driven by the apple dumpling gang in Oakland County alone.  They have help..  Big Money help.

  • [News] Getting To Know Your Michigan Candidates: Rep. Mark Schauer (D) 7th Congressional District
At the top of Democrat Mark Schauer's re-election campaign web site, he has the slogan
"Turning Michigan around, one job at a time"

Based on his voting record, I think voters need to interpret his campaign slogan literally.

Even though it's proven time and again that large spending bills are job and economy killers, Democrats can count on a "yes" vote from Mark Schauer.

  • [News] Lansing's budget debacle reaffirms need for constitutional convention
~ Promoted because discussion is always good ~

The debacle over finalizing a state government budget underscores the reason why Proposal 1, a state constitutional convention, must be passed.

Our leaders in Lansing promised they would pass a budget by July 1. That deadline came and went, and it wasn't until this week, some two months after the original deadline, that a budget agreement was reached by legislative leaders and the governor.

But a promise is a promise. And I doubt few Michiganders would receive a two-month extension from their boss after failing to meet a critical work deadline, as our legislators did.

This charade, which has been repeated year after year over the last decade, illustrates why Lansing is fundamentally incapable of fixing itself. The change our great state so desperately needs won't come from within the halls of state government.

  • [Multimedia] A Moving Ad..
I will be the first to call out the leadership when something they do is wrong.  Alternately, I must say when something they have done is so right.

    This..  Is SO right.

    Good Job MI GOP

  • [News] Update on Justice Davis Eligibility
    Received the affidavit.

Contrary to the published version of Mr Davis' filing HERE, it seems he accepted a nomination by the Michigan Democrat party.  While writing this, the copy of the Democrat nominations arrived for verification.  He was indeed officially nominated by the Democrat party.  There can be no challenge to his ability to run.

However, he does not meet the incumbency rule in the state constitution as he should not file as incumbent because of his short term less than 180 days.

The thing that drew my attention to this originally, is how it is strange that Denise Langford, is SHOWN as the only NOMINATED SC candidate by Democrats on the candidate  roster for the state.

The constitution on this issue has an interesting sidebar by the way.

  • [News] Bernero, Benson and Leyton? Only if we let them...
This is a big election year.

Only eight weeks from today here in Michigan we will head to the polls and elect a new Governor and Lieutenant Governor, a new Secretary of State, a new Attorney General, an entirely new state House and Senate, members of the Michigan Supreme Court, members of boards of education and boards of regent and local office holders across the state.

Everything is on the table and up for grabs and the differences couldn't be bigger between Republicans and Democrats.

We've got a choice for governor between Rick Snyder and America's angriest mayor, Virg Bernero, a man whose platform seems to consist of three plank--shout louder than anyone else, do everything under the sun to empower Big Labor and set up a state-run bank (because state government seems to run everything else so well).

We've got a choice for Secretary of State between Ruth Johnson and Jocelyn Benson, a near carbon copy of Jennifer Granholm.  The only difference real between Benson and Granholm is that Benson is significantly more liberal.

And then there's the choice for Attorney General between Bill Schuette and David Leyton, a county prosecutor in Flint where violent crime has skyrocketed on his watch.  David Leyton seemingly never saw a violent crime case he wouldn't plea bargain. Sure, maybe you plea bargain some first offenses to keep the courts from clogging up. But when you're the Prosecutor in the most violent city in the state -- a city on track for a record setting number of murders this year -- business as usual is not good enough.

Leyton has been such a failure that this past year community leaders in Flint have called for the National Guard to be deployed to curb the continuing violence.

Three choices.  Each of them no choice at all.

And with the Governor, the Senate and the Supreme Court handling redistricting that will go a long ways to determining control of the legislature for the next decade, the stakes this year couldn't be any greater.

But you know all of that.  The question for each of is is what are we going to do about it?

It's going to take our combined effort again this year to make sure Michigan turns the corner away from the Democrats' record shattering tax hikes, nation's worst unemployment rates and big-government liberalism.

Pick a race.  Blog about it.  I'll pledge here and now to do that myself.  You can expect to see me here every single week between now and the election talking about the critical races facing each of us.  I hope you'll join me.

And then call one of the campaigns and get involved.

Let's show the Democrats-- who've given us more dangerous streets, higher unemployment, higher taxes and bigger government-- that enough is enough.
